Coverage Highlight: Idaho Statehouse concludes longest legislative session after summer recess
The Idaho legislature adjourned it’s longest session in history this November 2021. The Senate adjourned earlier in the year but the House recessed and was called back into session. This was something new and intriguing to navigate. Ultimately both chambers came back to the statehouse to work on legislation. Dozens of bills relating to COVID-19 vaccines and mandates were introduced, but little progress was made in passing them. Following this legislation was very interesting as some pieces were similar and others were different. Ultimately as Idaho navigates state and federal legal territory, boundaries in public and personal health are murky to lawmakers.
Covering this was a challenge not only because it was an untraditional session, but because I was filling in as a weather anchor in the morning and then went straight to the statehouse after the morning shows. Thankfully I was able to keep up through Twitter and social media. I tweeted coverage throughout the first half of the day. Below you can find some highlights of what I covered for the afternoon shows.
